David Steiner Debuts New “Doyenne” Series at Prestigious Chicago Event
David Steiner Gallery + Studio is proud to announce the debut of Surf Siren, the inaugural work in David Steiner’s new Doyenne Series, at The Chicago Network’s annual Women in the Forefront Luncheon in Chicago. The event welcomed approximately 1,500 influential executives, entrepreneurs, and civic leaders and featured an extraordinary roster of speakers, including former Secretary of State and First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton, renowned architect Jeanne Gang, and philanthropist Ann Drake.
The Doyenne Series celebrates the strength, resilience, leadership, and transformative power of women. Bringing together two defining elements of Steiner’s artistic practice, the iconic feminine forms from his celebrated Totems Series and the radiant energy of his recent Refractions works, the series explores emergence, vitality, and possibility through luminous color and layered abstraction. The title “Doyenne” is derived from the French word describing a woman of distinction, influence, and leadership.
In Surf Siren, a powerful female figure emerges through vibrant layers of light and color, embodying both grace and strength. The work reflects the dynamic role women play in shaping business, culture, family, and community while honoring the confidence and authenticity that inspire meaningful change. The painting was selected as a featured artwork for the event, underscoring the significance of its message and the growing national recognition of Steiner’s work.
